Privacy Policy

General

Emerging America respects the privacy of every individual who visits emergingamerica.org. Emerging America wants you to fully understand what information we gather from you, how that information is collected, how that information is used, and how you can control the collection and/or use of information about you.

Confidential Personal Information (CPI)

There are cases in which Emerging America may ask you for confidential personal information, such as your name, job title, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address. For example, we request CPI for online shopping or transactions or for other services that require registration. Emerging America will not collect any CPI about you unless you provide it to us voluntarily, with the exception of your computer's IP address. The IP address is an identifier unique to each computer or Internet usage session.

Confidential Personal information will not be sold or shared with any external groups, or disclosed to any third party outside of Emerging America.

Electronic data with Confidential Personal Information will be stored in a secure server with access limited to specifically named agency staff. Individuals or companies under contract with Emerging America may have access to information in the course of the service they provide to the Agency, but those entities are not permitted to use or re-disclose that information for unauthorized purposes and must sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to work being performed.

Photos, video, and names of students and staff are allowed on agency web sites for the purpose of publicizing activities or student achievement, but such information will not be used without obtaining permission via release from the subject or parent/guardian, and in accordance with state regulations.

When you do provide us with Confidential Personal Information, Emerging America may:

  • Store and process that information to enhance your experience with Emerging America so that we provide a service that is relevant and easy to use;
  • Use that information to contact you for informational, marketing, and promotional purposes on behalf of Emerging America.

Emerging America may give you the opportunity to share materials (“Contributions”) through various forums and blogs that Emerging America may make available through the Services. If you elect to submit Contributions, all portions of such Contributions will become publicly available and may be viewed by anyone. Any CPI that you elect to include as part of your Contributions will cease to be considered Confidential Personal Information hereunder.

Nonpersonally Identifiable Information

Emerging America may also collect information about you that is not personally identifiable. Examples of this type of information may include your interests and preferences, the type of Internet browser you are using, the type of computer operating system you are using, and the domain name of the company or organizational web site from which you linked to emergingamerica.org. Emerging America may share this information with business partners, sponsors, or other third parties. For example, Emerging America may inform a sponsor that membership of emergingamerica.org is x percent teachers and y percent students.
