By connecting the goals of the federal government to primary source visual representations, this simple civics lesson will help students to remember and think more deeply about the goals set out by the Preamble to the United States Constitution.

Students will work in small groups to analyze an image (provided) that connects to each goal in the Preamble. As an optional extension, they may use available resources to identify other images that exemplify that goal for government. They will present their group’s Preamble goal with example(s) to the class in the format of a mini-museum exhibit that will be displayed around the room.
