November 16 - Collaborative for Educational Services - Northampton, Massachusetts

Few books about the Civil Rights Movement focus on examples from outside the South. Especially during January and February and in the spring, many teachers share books about Jim Crow and Civil Rights with their students, but they are almost exclusively Southern stories.

Join Alice Levine to explore how we can bring stories about segregation and civil rights struggles that occurred in the North, West and Midwest into our teaching. (See blog post.) Alice and teachers will share examples and discuss ideas while browsing books and materials for use with students this school year.
