In February, staff from Emerging America at the Collaborative for Educational Services will travel to D.C. to participant in an all-consortium meeting for the Library of Congress’ Teaching with Primary Sources program. Rich Cairn, the Emerging America Executive Director, and Karen Albano, the Assistant Director, will meet with fellow grant recipients from the TPS program. Emerging America serves as the sole New England delegation attending the meeting and looks forward to forming connections with fellow program members. In August 2016, the Library of Congress selected 23 programs to receive the TPS grant including the following organizations and their respective projects:
- Stanford University: assessments and lessons that connect content from their popular Thinking Like a Historian and Thinking Beyond the Bubble sites.
- iCivics: an app that helps students understand and discuss important civics topics through historical documents.
- Maryland Humanities Center: online inquiry kits that support student research with primary sources, research tools, and interactive lessons.
